envelio and comtac

The Cluey EM from Comtac is an intelligent IoT energy monitor that enables precise real-time measurements in low-voltage grids.

This compact device is installed directly in local substations, transformer stations, or cable distribution cabinets and captures phase-accurate measurements such as current, voltage, frequency, and power for up to 14 feeders simultaneously. Thanks to integrated communication technologies like LTE, LoRaWAN, and Ethernet, the recorded data can be flexibly and securely integrated into existing SCADA or cloud systems.

The partnership between Comtac and envelio focuses on incorporating real-time data into existing grid models within the Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP).

Together, envelio’s IGP and the Comtac Cluey EM enable accurate real-time grid state estimation, early detection of grid congestion, determination of required control actions, and optimized grid operation in line with §14a EnWG.

Cluey EM – Advanced grid monitoring & control

About Cluey EM (in German) | About Comtac
In addition to precise real-time measurements, the Cluey EM from Comtac also supports versatile sensor integration via Modbus RTU – for example, to connect medium-voltage measuring devices (IKI50) and Janitza UMGs. Additional station data such as earth fault/short-circuit messages, temperature readings, SF6 pressure, or door contacts further enhance grid transparency. Control outputs allow for resetting of short-circuit/earth fault notifications as well as remote switch operation with status feedback. Thanks to data buffering during power outages, grid monitoring remains reliable and continuously active.
