Documenting switch states often requires significant manual effort. Grid operators frequently rely on paper plans or decentralized data sources that are not automatically synchronized, causing grid models to quickly lose accuracy. Additionally, the ability to simulate planned switching actions in advance is often missing, limiting the optimization of switching processes.
Our Switching Manager app brings greater accuracy, automation, and efficiency to your switching processes. With the Switching Manager, planned switching actions can be simulated, and their impact on grid load analyzed. The app continuously updates the digital grid model, supports the rectification of incorrect switch states, and ensures that grid planning and operations always reflect the actual grid topology.
Here’s what you can do with the Switching Manager app:
This app optimizes the entire process from switching planning to documentation – with automated suggestions, transparent planning, and seamless integration into grid operations.

Simulation and execution of switching actions
The Switching Manager enables manual planning and simulation of switching actions directly within the Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP). Using load flow calculations based on simultaneity factors or scaling parameters, the impact of planned switching operations can be analyzed. Every simulated switching action is archived, allowing for later review and validation.

Power restoration via neighboring grids and backup assets
With the Switching Manager, specific grid sections or assets can be intentionally disconnected for repairs or maintenance. The app also identifies unpowered areas and provides options for restoring supply through neighboring grids or backup power assets, ensuring a stable energy supply even during disruptions or maintenance work.

Automated generation of switching plans
The Switching Manager automatically generates switching plans based on the simulated switching actions in the IGP. These plans document all executed actions. Once a switching plan is implemented in the grid, it can be activated in the app, keeping all stakeholders up to date.

Automated display of switching history for grid assets
For each grid asset, the app provides a complete switching history, covering all switching actions involving the asset. Additionally, active switch states can be filtered, offering detailed transparency into past switching processes and supporting well-informed operational decisions.
