5 years of envelio

envelio turns five! During these five years, a lot has changed. Our vision to drive the energy transition and our passion for what we do has remained.
We would like to use our fifth birthday to look back together at our milestones over the past years:

2017

• The envelio GmbH was founded on 04th April 2017
• Start in our first office at Entrepreneurship Center in Aachen
• envelio wins the main award at the BMWi Digitale Innovationen Wettbewerb (Digital Innovations Competition)
• Westnetz, BEW Netze and E.DIS become our first customers

2018

• envelio moves from Aachen to Cologne
• envelio closes €1 million seed financing round with High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Demeter Ventures – with the aim of accelerating growth within Germany
• Westnetz and E.DIS decide to roll out the IGP
• Iberdrola becomes envelio’s first international customer

2019

• Series A financing round of €6 million was closed with eCAPITAL, HTGF and Demeter Ventures – with the aim of driving forward internationalization
• envelio is included in the international Utility Acceleration Program “Free Electrons”
• Move to our new office in the Sidol Lofts in Cologne
• Further international customers in Hungary, Austria, Brazil, and Portugal use the Intelligent Grid Platform

2020

• envelio is awarded as Global Cleantech 100 company for the first time
• First customer in Northern Europe with Vattenfall
• Strongest employee growth despite pandemic challenges
• Our first up-selling with operations management applications for online monitoring

2021

• envelio again recognized as a Global Cleantech 100 company
• Relaunch of our corporate identity with an entirely new design and website
• First complete roll-out outside Germany with Elektrilevi from Estonia
• E.ON takes over majority stake in envelio to accelerate the next growth phase
