envelio and smartOPTIMO
As part of grid-oriented control (aka §14a EnWG in Germany), smartOPTIMO supports DSOs in providing and implementing the necessary systems. These include the pEMT system (system for passive external market participants), the Gateway Administration System (GWA), and the aEMT system. In combination with envelio’s platform, these systems enable efficient monitoring and control of the power grid. With continuous transmission of high-resolution grid state data via Tariff Application Case 10 (TAF10), the envelio Intelligent Grid Platform (IGP) ensures continuous transparency of the grid status. Based on this real-time data, the IGP automatically identifies congestion points and derives the necessary control actions.
Through its collaboration with envelio, smartOPTIMO securely provides the required grid state data, enabling envelio to derive precise control commands for congestion management. These commands are transmitted via the BDEW Web API to smartOPTIMO’s aEMT system, which executes the corresponding switching actions within seconds via the secure CLS channel. This ensures that, for example, loads are adjusted or curtailed in line with regulatory requirements.
This close partnership establishes a scalable and secure infrastructure that helps both metering point operators and DSOs maintain a stable and efficient energy supply.
